What We Believe

We are proud to be a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and the Minneapolis Area Synod, located in New Hope, Minnesota.

The Lutheran faith is centered around the deep belief of God's love and grace for each of us.  We believed that God's grace is most clearly shown in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the only Son of God.  We believe in a Triune God: Father/Creator, Son/Savior, Spirit/Sustainer.  We believe that the Holy Spirit is in each human being.  We believe that God's love fills us and propels us out into the world to share that love.  You can read more about the Lutheran faith of the ELCA here.

The ELCA has many social statements and social messages about relevant issues of the day.  To find out what our church believes about these current issues, check out these materials here and here.

Additionally, at House of Hope, our faith and mission is centered in the hope of welcoming all our neighbors.  Our welcome statement says "“House of Hope Lutheran Church is a Reconciling in Christ Community. All are welcome to worship, to hear the Good News, to receive the sacraments, and to participate fully in fellowship, service, and leadership. God loves us unconditionally and we endeavor to be a place where that same hospitality is extended to everyone. Following Christ, we seek racial and social equity with reconciliation among all peoples. We welcome everyone, without exception and regardless of sex, race, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, physical and mental ability, age or station in life, faith, or creed. Each person is a unique creation of God and through Grace, is a child of God. We are very glad you are here!”
